BASQUE AGENCY FOR COOPERATION FOR DEVELOPMENT

The Basque Agency for Cooperation for Development is a public body with the remit to plan and manage development policies in developing countries, pursuant to the principles and objectives set forth in the Basque Law on Cooperation.

The mission of the Basque Agency for Cooperation for Development is to help in the struggle against poverty and promote human development. To do so, it has a Strategic Master Plan that defines the geographical, mainstream and sectorial priorities that underpin all its actions in the field, as well as a line of work in Education for Development in the Basque Country designed to foster a critical awareness.

INSTITUTO DE CAPACITACIÓN DEL ORIENTE-ICO

The Bolivian training institute Instituto de Capacitación del Oriente (ICO) is a non-profit civil society organisation that began operating on 1 July 1981.  Its members are a group of professional men and women that are committed to supporting the country’s most disadvantaged people in general, and the population in Valles Cruceños in particular.

ITS WORK IS ORCHESTRATED AROUND THE FOLLOWING PILLARS:

Developing capabilities in Valles Cruceños

Instruction of men and women in Valles Cruceños in the sustainable management of natural resources as key players in the region’s socioeconomic development.

Management of water resources

Improvement in access to water and basic sanitation, finding common ground for agreement on land zoning to enable the population to manage and use natural resources in a sustainable manner.

ZABALKETA ASSOCIATION FOR COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT

ZABALKETA is a Basque Non-Governmental Organisation that was founded in 1991, and its head office is in Getxo (Bizkaia). It works locally on raising awareness and on education for social transformation, while its international operations focus on projects involving Cooperation for Development.

Together with public and private institutions, and through networking, its work contributes to the eradication of poverty and injustice in the world. With a view to bringing about the structural changes the world is calling for, it operates locally by introducing awareness schemes and educating people in matters of social transformation with a view to reinforcing civil society’s engagement; in turn, its work abroad involves cooperation projects that promote fair and sustainable human development in countries in the Americas, Africa and Asia.
