The Zabaldu Mundura – Coexistence Global educational material consists of a total of ten teaching units that have been prepared based on the "Zabaldu Mundura" teaching strategy, whereby a link is forged between the work undertaken in Cooperation for Development and in Education for Development (ED), driving values, attitudes and behaviours that favour coexistence.
The preparation of this material has involved the participation of teaching staff in both Primary and Higher Education; people working in international organisations with which Zabalketa pursues its cooperation projects; and Zabalketa's own voluntary and hired staff.
These teaching units have been compiled taking into account, on the one hand, the new technologies present in the education process and, on the other, the content of the school curriculum in the third cycle of Primary Education.
The methodology invites the use of critical reflection and peer learning, and therefore presents activities to be undertaken individually, in small groups or by the whole class. In addition, we will find different links to videos, webs, picture galleries, etc., for the purpose of providing a background and helping to prompt reflection.
This is an instrument that is flexible, open and versatile, which teachers may programme to suit their needs, interests and the time available. Each unit is designed to be studied in full in a 50-minute class, although teachers may adjust each one according to their own criteria.
The design of these teaching units leads to the study of values such as solidarity, respect, commitment, care for the environment and responsibility, among others, focusing on the eight basic competences established for Primary Education: Competence in the culture of science, technology and health; Competence in learning to learn; Competence in mathematics; Competence in language skills; Competence in processing information and digital media; Competence in social skills and citizenship; Competence in a humanistic and artistic culture; and Competence in personal initiative and self-reliance.
