Men and women of peace

In this unit, we will learn about different people who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and we will find out how to write a biography of one of our classmates.

1. It often happens that we know more about people who appear on TV than about our own classmates.
   Our lack of knowledge about the people we live with is one of the main causes of conflict.

1. After learning about these historical figures, we are now going to find out a little bit more about people who are also important in our lives – our classmates.

Think up and write down a few questions to ask a classmate and so write a short biography of them.

Ask them, for example, their date of birth, about their family, their favourite food, whether they have a pet, what they like to do in their spare time...

When you have prepared the questionnaire, find a classmate you don’t know very well and ask and answer each other’s questions. Your new friend is bound to be surprised!

Finish by writing a short biography, 3 or 4 lines, of that classmate.

When we have all finished, we’ll read out the biography of our classmate to the rest of the class.
